Editing & Coaching for Authors or Small Businesses
The hard part is over: you've written a manuscript, started a blog, or launched a newsletter. Great job! Most people who set out to write something never make it past the first thousand words, and it can be hard to keep up with academic or nonfiction content. But now what?

Indie or hybrid, traditional or self-published, student or business, editing is one of the most important pre-publishing stages any written text undergoes and can make or break your work.
Good editors are able to maintain the original author's voice and style while elevating and refining the text.
I offer editing for fiction, academic work, and nonfiction content such as blog articles and web copy. I'm happy to do a free sample edit of the first 5,000 words for fiction projects!
If you book isn't quite ready for full-blown edits but need a sounding board or second opinion, I also offer coaching sessions starting at $10 for 30 minutes.
Genres I have the most experience with include Fantasy, Science Fiction, Historical Fiction, and Romance within any of those genres (Romantasy, Historical Romance, etc).

Types of Editing
Developmental
Developmental editing evaluates the "big picture," tackling the text's structure, clarity, and pacing. It also seeks to correct plot holes, character development errors, and similar concerns when performed on works of fiction.
Content
Content editing focuses on the big picture but may involve adding to or rewriting content by the original author. This style of editing is most often applied to texts like blog articles and newsletters.
Copy
Copyediting takes place before the text is formatted but after the text is finalized. Nothing major about the text should be changed during copyediting; most remaining issues should be syntax, grammar, or spelling-related.
Proofreading
Proofreading occurs after a text is formatted for publication but before it's published to correct typos and other minor errors caused by the formatting process. It's similar to copyediting.
Line
Line editing focuses on individual sentences and concerns such as word choice, flow, and style. It's one of the most intensive types of editing, though it's less focused on the overarching purpose of the text, favoring detailed corrections instead.
Rewrites
Rewrites involve reading a completed text and redoing the entire project or a portion of it using the original as a reference. Longer or more complicated texts require more time to rewrite.
